Anyway, the answer to this “how to cut files in mac” is … there’s no such f*cking thing as to cut files in mac. Use drag and drop. Period!

Don’t be sad, you only need to open two “Finder” windows. Drag files from one window to another. Done.

Okay … okay. Here, i have a story to console you…

*BONUS GUIDE*
HOW TO CUT FILES WITHOUT CUTTING YOUR HEAD

Long long time ago, when i was an undergraduate student. I have a junior one year younger. He’s particularly “different”. We like to make fun of him. Well, he can be smart sometimes, but not always.

Living as IT student can be very harsh, you know. Especially for people like him who doesn’t even know what is computer before. He has to work extra hard to catch up with everybody. Good for him, i believe extra work paid each and every.

In the faculty, everyone got personal hard disk space stored in the laboratory’s server. We are strongly advised not to save anything on each and every workstation, because all files will be cleaned every month.

This particular boy works hard for practicum and classes’ homework. He didn’t save those files in server though, because accessing them can be slow sometimes. Instead, he saved all his hard work on a local workstation.

We got an announcement. Soon, the administrators are going to do regular monthly sweeping and maintenance for every workstations.

He figured out that he would be totally busted if he let all his files on his favorite workstation. This sweeping would clean everything like a group of locus raiding rice-field. He wouldn’t dare to risk his hard earned documents which paid with blood and tears for several weeks. This is really a huge problem for him.

So in this one day, he forced his brain to think ….. Tick Tock Tick Tock Riiing! Ow, looks like he got one smart idea. He said that he would move all his files onto his personal space on server. Yeah, that’s it! With this, he manage to solve his problem by his own. Yes, I knew he can do it!

Then, he happily select the folder which contain all of his files. Press Ctrl-C, to copy the files. Press Delete to erase the files. Go to his personal drive mapped to shared folder on Novell Netware server. Press Ctrl-V to paste. Voila! Done. Yes…

No! Things doesn’t went as expected. It took several minute for him to figured out what’s wrong. Then he come to me again, asking if somehow we can recover deleted files.

I would prefer to hit his head rather than answering the question.

It’s Windows NT at that time. Once you erase things, they would be gone forever. Recovery software is simply not affordable.

Hang in there kid! Living as IT student can be very harsh, you know.
